ramblings of an optomistic spirit

Wow the aurora borealis from our bedroom window.

Andy has been into Astronomy for years. So you can imagine his delight when he went out to the bin before we went to bed last night and called me to see this. Where we live there are no street lights so we get some dark skies. Which are amazing for stargazing.
The pictures don't do justice to the amazing green glow and white beams that darted across the sky :-)

  3. Oh my goodness.....this is just spectacular! I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and I grew up seeing STREET LIGHTS at night! It wasn't until I moved out east to Massachusetts and lived in the outskirts of the city that I say my first glimpse at the northern lights. Spectacular my dear! Anita

  5. So beautiful!
    And I'm so envious!
Traveled to Iceland in March to see just a bit.

We're approaching the solar max - 2012-2013 and I've been following a space weather site that warns me of solar storms - but none have been strong enough to be seen down by me - It needs to be a k8 or 9...
