Andy has been into Astronomy for years. So you can imagine his delight when he went out to
the bin before we went to bed last night and called me to see this. Where we live there are no street lights so we get some dark skies. Which are amazing for stargazing.
The pictures don't do justice to the amazing green glow and white beams that darted across the sky :-)
Very cool! I don't think I've ever seen stars so bright either.
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing thanks for your comment, we have amazing starry skies here but the northern lights was a first. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness.....this is just spectacular! I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and I grew up seeing STREET LIGHTS at night! It wasn't until I moved out east to Massachusetts and lived in the outskirts of the city that I say my first glimpse at the northern lights. Spectacular my dear! Anita
ReplyDeleteThanks Anita we were both awestruck as its the first time we have seen them as spectacular as last night. Thank you for your comment. Annie

So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so envious!
Traveled to Iceland in March to see just a bit.
We're approaching the solar max - 2012-2013 and I've been following a space weather site that warns me of solar storms - but none have been strong enough to be seen down by me - It needs to be a k8 or 9...
Thank you Joy for your comment, it was amazing and the very next night we saw it again but better,we decided to skip the camera and just stand in awe and watch. Good luck in catching them your way soon. Annie
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to have been able to see that amazing sight, and thank you so much for sharing it with us.
