ramblings of an optomistic spirit

who knows ?

Its been a really busy time in the Highlands just don't seem to find the time to blog :-(
Andy's daughter is having interviews at the moment for University so I found myself back down in Yorkshire last week as we accompanied her to her interview in Leeds.

We have finally chosen paint colours for the lounge.

I have fallen in love with these wall lamps but can only seem to source them in the States ???? So readers has anyone else purchased lights in the States how does it work electricity wise in the UK as I really really want them.
After much deliberation we have finally chosen a sideboard and await its delivery from Belgium.

Just as I was typing this our new door handles for our interior door handles have arrived and they look great.

So this little cottage by the sea is finally starting to turn into our home. Waiting for a quote for a new front door have decided to go quite contemporary

What kind of front door do you have ?
What does it say about your home ?

  1. Love the buffet you chose, love those lights and love the knobs.

Despite my style, I also love the front door you showed.

Our front door is a bright red Dutch door that is usually wide open. The message is "drop in for a chat" - any time.

    1. Thanks Carol it unusual for me to go for a door like that but it goes with the front of the house, we are just landscaping the front simply raised sleeper beds with seaside planting and gravel, our land to the rear is wild and cottagy, Your front door sounds great it wouldn't be wide open if you lived here especially today, snow and bitter winds brrrrrrr

  2. I love those pieces you have chosen and nice that they are coming from different countries too. Our front door is sadly a pvc door although it does have a stained glass effect in the middle. How I would love an old wooden door or a modern one like yours. Sarah x

    1. Hi Sarah
Actually its quite sad in a way that they are coming from different countries. Our door at the moment is old and wooden and I actually prefer them but with the wind and the weather and living opposite the sea upvc wins with us too. Annie x

  4. Don't know about the electrics, but you could always have them re-wired. They are fabulous looking. Agree with you about the upvc, just like here wooden windows and doors would rot with the salty air too quickly, even our upvc needs regular cleaning and oiling.
I used to work in Leeds!
