sunny saturday
Wow ! we woke up to a blue sky sunny saturday and the sea was perfectly flat.
A perfect day to kayak or get up high for the view sadly my ankle injury would allow neither of those.
So we set off for a tootle in the car with the dogs.
Firstly we detoured to the supermarket to get a picnic and then took the scenic route to Ardnamurchan.
we stopped to have lunch and admire the view, artisan bread with pate and salad, washed down with raspberry lemonade. We then drove onto to a great bird hide spent some time admiring the stunning views, sipped coffee and nibbled chocolate.
It's an amazing bird hide and I just love how the viewing slots frame the views.
Sadly we only saw seals, heron, gulls, wagtails we glimpsed and otter but weren't quick enough with the camera. The sea eagles never made an appearance whilst we were there.

We then made our way home calling here for a glass of wine
this is the first bar we have taken Rannoch into and he was perfectly behaved :-)
A leisurely drive to the ferry a short crossing to home.

Blue
Inspired by a new blog I follow, I found myself trawling through my picasa album
and I am now posting a few of the photo's of which the memory brought a smile to my face.
It's been raining all day today, its windy and foggy. So curled up with a cup of tea these made me smile because.......
This deer and her fawn used to frequent the garden of the house we rented when we first moved up here, I named her Doris. Hmmmm she ate everything I ever planted in that garden.

We holidayed on Harris and sat on the pier with a glass of wine and a bottle of beer and just watched this little blue boat drift on the tide.
Now this cutie I named really originally Bambi well hidden at the bottom of
the garden

We rented this old inn when we first moved, it was huge and freezing in winter
but its looking good in this pic and we shared many happy hours with visiting
friends :-)

We had not been living there long when there was a local wedding on
the shore at the bottom of the garden, the band struck up wih " I would walk 500 miles"
and the fireworks began, tear in the eye evening
Sparky just loved the beach when we first moved :-)

A stunning Gannet soared above me whilst I took pictures of Andy kayaking .
The lacework patterns on the wings were amazing.

3 hours by the sea :-)
It was such a lovely stunning evening last night, so after Andy and I finished work we decided to make the most of it and head out.Along with sparky we jumped in the car and headed to a spot I love.
The sea was calm the sun shone and we had an amazing walk along the coast found little coves ( I even rolled up my jeans and dipped my toes in the water, it was cold but was very very clear and the sand covered in mussel and clam shells). We saw oyster catchers, geese,a ringed plover, eider ducks, stonechat and our first swallow of the season. As we headed out onto the headland the wind whistled round us, the view was stunning miles and miles of sheer wilderness.
Sparky jumped and frolicked to his hearts content as a dog he has a life of riley. ( I thought Riley was a great name for our next dog, sparky needs a canine companion ).
We went to the end of the point and just soaked up the beauty of it all, on the way back we stumbled across a geocahe hidden under some rocks, my first experience of one of these.
We explored another bay did a bit of beachcombing collected a few shells and slowly headed back passing a fishing hut with a hell of a view.
As we got nearer civalisation we met a few folks 3 young lads having an impromptu bbq on the beach, a chap who had caught a sea trout, a young girl herding in a flock of sheep for the evening.
We clambered back into the car and went home to a supper of mackeral, fennel and green beans, washed down with a glass of rose.
Andy and I slept like logs :-)
